Tower Hamlets Council Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy 2024

As a listening council, Tower Hamlets wants to gather feedback from its tenants and leaseholders to help influence decision-making and drive improvements to its Housing Management service. It is important for the council to work with council tenants and leaseholders in a fair, open, transparent, and accessible way.

On 1 November 2023, housing management services previously provided by Tower Hamlets Homes came back in-house. These services include repairs, maintenance, improvements, caretaking, gardening, and rent and service charge collections.

The intention of insourcing was to help join-up housing and other council services to make it easier for residents to get what they need, to bring the council closer to critical issues such as fire and building safety, to deliver best value, and give tenants and leaseholders a stronger voice into the council.

There have also been changes to social housing regulations which require the council to show that it is adhering to consumer standards as set by the Regulator of Social Housing.

This consultation is seeking views from council tenants and leaseholders about the council’s new Council Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy. This will provide the blueprint on how the council aims to engage and communicate with tenants and leaseholders in a more transparent and accountable way. It also seeks to build on the engagement successes of the former Tower Hamlets Homes, to drive service improvements and build a stronger relationship with council tenants and leaseholders.

To take part in the survey please first read the summary strategy, which can be found under ‘Key documents’ on the right-hand side of this page, then complete the survey questions below.

The closing date is Monday 19 August 2024.
