Buxton Street Housing Proposals

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has appointed Archio architects to develop proposals for three family-sized homes for social rent, just off Buxton Street. A planning application is currently being prepared to demolish the existing disused former premises manager’s house and redevelop the site to help meet the Council’s need for larger affordable family homes across the borough. The proposals have been carefully designed to respond to the surrounding context, creating a strong relationship with the existing properties along Buxton Street while delivering new high quality, sustainable places to live. The site is currently occupied by an existing vacant and dilapidated former school premises manager’s house and single-storey garage with surrounding garden and trees. The plot has historically been part of the Thomas Buxton Primary School, with the site surrounded by the school to its west, north and northeast. In addition to the school, the site adjoins a terrace of two-storey houses to the east, with a three-storey home on the corner of Vallance Road.
