NHS Test and Trace is a national programme which ensures that anyone who develops symptoms of coronavirus can be tested quickly. It also helps trace close recent contacts of anyone who tests positive for coronavirus and notify them so that they can stay at home (self-isolate) and help stop the spread of coronavirus.
How NHS Test and Trace works
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus must immediately self-isolate and ask for a coronavirus test through the NHS or by calling NHS 119.
You must take the following steps if you have coronavirus symptoms or are contacted by NHS Test and Trace and told that you have been in close contact with someone with coronavirus:
1. If you have one or more symptoms of coronavirus, which are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell, you must immediately self-isolate.
2. You then must book a test through NHS.UK or call NHS 119. Testing is available for anyone who has symptoms. Children under the age of five will need a clinical assessment first. Please call your GP or NHS 111 to arrange this.
3. If you test positive, you will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace who will help you identify who you have been in close contact with and will ask you for their contact details. You must isolate for 7 days from when symptoms started. People identified as having been in close contact with someone who has a positive test must stay at home for 14 days, even if they do not have symptoms.
Why are we conducting this survey?
Testing for coronavirus and contact tracing those people who have been in close recent contact with those people who test positive, is one of the best ways to combat the virus and prevent its spread.
Your feedback will help us to better understand what barriers Tower Hamlets residents may face engaging with NHS Test and Trace.
It is important that we understand how effective the national NHS Test and Trace programme is locally, to plan for any spikes in cases in the borough and how best to engage residents in testing and contact tracing. We want to hear from as many of you as possible.
Our survey is open to all residents.
As the NHS Test and Trace programme will run for the foreseeable future, this will be an open survey with no current closing date, so we can continue to capture views from our residents about the programme.
Completing the survey
It's simple and easy to use - and should take around 10 minutes to complete.
If you're new to completing surveys online, we would encourage you to ask someone you live with (or someone you come into safe contact with, such as a carer) to assist you with this platform.
Your privacy
Answers you provide will help us to understand if our residents are aware of how to get tested for coronavirus and understand any barriers they may face in booking a test or engaging with the NHS Test and Trace programme.
Your responses to the questions in the survey are confidential and we will not contact you about the answers you provide.
