During the period of Ramadan each year recently, a market has set up in the road that starts at the junction with Fieldgate Street E1 and runs past the rear of Tesco. The entrance is nearly opposite the East London Mosque. Are you aware that such a market takes place?

If a PSPO was to be put into place, it would only come into effect during the Ramadan period each year. The overall intention for it is to stop the market operating and so prevent the associated antisocial behaviour. For that purpose the proposed conditions of the PSPO would be:

1. During the period of Ramadan, no person shall sell, or offer for sale any goods within the defined area, either from stalls or other similar equipment or by any other means.

2. During the period of Ramadan, no person shall assemble or place, or cause to be assembled or placed, any equipment related to the sale or offer for sale of goods, within the defined area.
