UPDATE: The remaining elements of the scheme are currently under construction and near completion. These are focused along Wapping High Street and Wapping Lane and include new widened footways to improve safety and accessibility, improved crossing at junctions and a new zebra crossing outside Wapping Station and are due for completion in December 2021. Officers are also working on a new resident exemption scheme for residents to pass the bus gate. This is likely to begin operation in December 2021.
Liveable Streets is a borough-wide street and public space improvement programme. It aims to improve the look and feel of public spaces in neighbourhoods across the borough and make it easier, safer, and more convenient to get around by foot, bike and public transport.
We are currently undertaking detailed design and phased construction. During which time, we continue to work with residents and businesses to ensure the safe and effective investment in improving streets in Wapping.
