Mayer Parry Funding Package Secured
A funding package of over £10 million for the Mayer Parry Bridge in the Lower Lea Valley has been secured, paving the way for construction to begin.
The long-awaited pedestrian bridge, which will span the River Lea and connect Canning Town in Newham with Poplar in Tower Hamlets, is now fully funded thanks to equal contributions from both borough councils, as well as a contribution from the Greater London Authority. The project aims to enhance connectivity between regeneration zones on either side of the river. With funding confirmed, the Mayer Parry Bridge is expected to be completed by 2030. The next step of the project will be to submit a full planning application in early 2026.
