Consultation Update

We are pleased to present the next stage in our consultations on transport changes across Bethnal Green and Brick Lane.

The dates for the consultations are:

  • Old Bethnal Green and Weavers public consultations will launch on 23 Monday January and the deadline for responses will be 12 February 2023.
  • A Brick Lane public consultation will launch on 30 January and the deadline for responses will be 19 February 2023.

Consultation leaflets and surveys will be sent to all addresses within the scheme areas. Our key objective is to create healthier streets, with improvements to accessibility and road safety while restoring access for key services and residents reliant on their cars. All residents and other stakeholders are encouraged to have their say and respond to this consultation and help us shape our proposals. Local residents and businesses will be identified by a code sent in the post with their consultation package This code can be used when responding online or via post.

We are consulting on whether to implement a series of changes that have been developed following engagement with key stakeholders and data analysis. These changes are set out in more detail in the consultation leaflets for each scheme.

The proposed changes are focused on the following:

  • Improving access for all
  • Improving conditions for active travel across the whole area
  • Improving the conditions for public transport use through improved performance and access
  • Reduced traffic on unsuitable roads
  • Ensuring local businesses and keyworkers are not adversely impacted
  • Improving access for emergency vehicles
  • Contributing to improved air quality through encouraging active travel and public transport use

We will be launching this public consultation on 23 January 2023 for Old Bethnal Green Road and Weavers and 30 January 2023 for Brick Lane. The deadlines for responses will be 12 February 2023 for Old Bethnal Green and Weavers and 19 February 2023 for Brick Lane. Have your say by:

  1. Post the hard copy in the freepost envelope. This will be provided to all addresses within each scheme area.
  2. Online surveys for Weavers, Old Bethnal Green and Brick Lane will be open for all to respond to from each of their launch dates. Residents and businesses who receive a paper copy of the survey should use the response reference code on the survey.

Using your response reference number

All paper surveys sent out to addresses within the consultation boundary will have a response reference code for each address to be used for online responses if that is your chosen method of response. This code is for the household and can be used for responses from each member of the household.
