A Community Toilet Scheme enables local businesses and venues to make more clean, safe, and accessible toilets available to the public. These toilets will be available to use free of charge and without any expectation to make a purchase.

We are currently planning the launch of this scheme in Tower Hamlets. The introduction of this scheme will see more toilet availability within the borough which will contribute to the health and social inclusion of residents and visitors alike.

In addition to this, the local businesses that join the scheme will benefit economically, by creating an area that is accessible to all, where visitors can stay for longer lengths of time, and increase footfall into the area and their own premises.

We will be working closely with local businesses to develop this scheme.

We want to hear your views on toilet accessibility. Please provide your feedback through the survey below, this will help us to ensure that more toilets are made available for public use across the borough.

    • Allows members of the public to use the toilet facilities 

    • In a range of approved local businesses and organisations

    • During their opening hours, 

    • Free of charge. 

    • And without any expectation that users will purchase goods or services.


    Please note: It is not within this project to develop or refurbish any public toilets.
