Residents have approached the council to request new traffic management and parking bays around Fish Island. Therefore, we are seeking your views on the proposal, which can be summarised as the following:

  • Install additional parking spaces where possible now along Wyke Road, Monier Road, Stour Road, Smead Road and Bream Street.
  • Install additional parking spaces where possible post-development works along Smead Road, Beachy Road and Roach Road.
  • Remove build-outs to increase parking spaces along Stour Road. Adequate footway widths will be maintained.
  • Plant new trees and replace bollards where possible along Wyke Road and Beachy Road.
  • Introduce a one-way system in the area to aid traffic flow.
    • Eastbound on Wyke Road between Smead Road and Roach Road.
    • Eastbound on Stour Road between Smead Road and Beachy Road.
    • Eastbound on Dace Road between Smead Road and Bream Street.
    • Westbound on Beachy Road between Smead Road and Roach Road.
    • Southbound on Roach Road between Wyke Road and Beachy Road.
    • Northbound on Bream Street between Dace Road and Stour Road.
    • Maintain two-way operation along Monier Road, Smead Road and Dace Road between Monier Road and Smead Road.
  • Introduce blended crossing points prioritising safer crossing for pedestrians at:
    • Wyke Road at its junction with Roach Road.
    • Smead Road at its junctions with Monier Road, Beachy Road and Stour Road.
  • Introduce no waiting or loading restriction at the blind bend between Roach Road and Beachy Road to improve HGVs turning.

The existing parking controls for your Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) B4 operate from Monday to Saturday and 8.30 am to 7.30 pm. These parking controls were extended to also operate on Sundays when an event occurs at the London Stadium (e.g. West Ham football match). It has been highlighted that parking issues also happen on weekday evenings because of events at the London Stadium. As part of the experimental measures being introduced, the parking restrictions will also be extended to operate up to 10 pm on weekday evenings when an event is on. This will help alleviate the parking difficulties currently experienced by resident permit holders.

This site, which will be live until 10 May, contains scheme plans and a short questionnaire on the proposal.
