What type of digital documents can you accept?
We accept the following file formats: JPEG, TIFF, .docx, .xlxs, mov, avi, MP3, MP4 and WAV. If you have material in another format, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to make other arrangements.
Is my data secure?
We process your personal data securely in line with current legislation including the Data Protection Act (2018) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For further information about how and why we process the personal data you provided on this survey please read our Collections Management and Acquisitions Data Privacy Notice.
All submissions to the survey will be downloaded and securely stored by Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives on the Council network. In due course, these will be transferred to the Digital Preservation repository where they will be stored and managed for generations to come.
What about physical items? Are you collecting those too?
Yes. We are also collecting physical items and larger digital collections that document experiences of local residents during the lockdown.
Items such as diaries or journals, leaflets, flyers or posters and information from local businesses, charities or schools will help us to create an archive reflecting life that we can share with future generations.
Please keep these items safe and get in touch with us at email@example.com, with details of what you have. You can also use our online guidance to help you as we also look after records of organisations, families and individuals.
We're closed at the moment in line with government guidance, but once we re-open we can arrange for you to get your items to us and sign a deposit agreement form that will formally transfer the items to us as a gift at Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives.
