Welcome to the Leaside Area Action Plan (AAP) Consultation Page.

The Leaside AAP (linked on the left-hand side) is a planning document that sets out a strategy for growth and regeneration in the Leaside area from now until 2031. See the map below to understand the area covered by the AAP.

It will set out a vision for how the area will change, the policies the council will implement to help achieve the vision, the reasons for choosing these policies and the delivery plan for implementing the vision.

The consultation draft of the AAP includes planning policies for the Leaside area relating to:

  • Improvements to the quality and connectivity of walking and cycling links
  • New employment development, creating greater access to jobs
  • Access to community facilities
  • The type and quality of homes in the area
  • The quality and type of parks and open spaces

A number of evidence base documents have been produced as part of the AAP process, and these can be downloaded here.

We now want to hear your views and feedback on the draft document (linked on the left-hand side). This is your opportunity to have your say and contribute to this work. There is more information about the project below, but if you want you can go straight to the survey.

How can you get involved?

You can tell us your views by:

1. Completing the Online Survey. The survey goes through the document chapter by chapter with related questions and you can choose whether you want to comment on all or just some of the chapters. You can also email your comments to planmaking@towerhamlets.gov.uk.

2. Attending an Online Webinar. Project officers will be holding three online webinars where they will run through a presentation on the draft AAP. This will introduce the document and give an overview of the policies. Then there will be time for you to give comments or ask the officers your questions. These three webinars will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and can be accessed from the link below:

Online webinar on Thursday 15th April – 5.00pm-6.00pm

Online webinar on Wednesday 21st April - 5.00pm-6.00pm

Online webinar on Thursday 29th April – 1.00pm-2.00pm

Alternatively, you can email planmaking@towerhamlets.gov.uk and we will send you a Microsoft Teams calendar invite.

If you are not available to join one of the live webinars, you can review the recording of the first webinar under the 'videos' tab on the right-hand side -->

3. Attending an Online Drop-in Session.

We will also be hosting virtual 'drop-in' sessions via Microsoft Teams where LBTH officers will be available to answer any questions or queries you might have on the project. The 'drop-in' sessions will be held during between 2pm and 6pm on Tuesday 4th May and you are able to book in 15 minute sessions.

If you are interested in attending a drop-in session, kindly confirm by sending through an email to planmaking@towerhamlets.gov.uk and we will organise a time that suits you.

All comments and information received will be carefully analysed and will help to inform the AAP. We will publish a summary of feedback received (no personal information will be published) and how it was taken into account in the revised AAP.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the ability for us to engage on this project in more traditional forms, however this consultation page has been prepared to ensure that we continue to engage and inform the local community in a safe and secure way.
