Welcome to the Leaside Area Action Plan (AAP) Consultation Page
*PLEASE NOTE: due to technical issues without website over the holiday period, the consultation deadline has been extended to 11th February 2022.
The Leaside AAP is a planning document that sets out a strategy for growth and regeneration in the Leaside area from now until 2031. See the map below to understand the area covered by the AAP.
The Leaside AAP will set out a vision for how the area will change, the policies the council will implement to help achieve the vision, the reasons for choosing these policies and the delivery plan for implementing the vision.
The draft AAP includes planning policies for the Leaside area relating to:
Improvements to the quality and connectivity of walking and cycling links
New employment development, creating greater access to jobs
Access to community facilities
The type and quality of homes in the area
The quality and type of parks and open spaces
In April 2021, the Plan making team held the first Regulation 18 Consultation to gather feedback on the draft document. All comments received were carefully analysed and used to update the AAP.
Given the volume of change and development expected, this AAP is necessary to set principles and policies to guide development to help ensure that it meets the needs of current and future communities in and around the area. To ensure we reflect the views of the Leaside community we are now preparing for a second Regulation 18 Consultation to invite further comments on the updated draft planning policies and evidence base documents.
The public consultation will run from 29 November 2021 until 11th February 2022
This is your opportunity to have your say and contribute to this work.
Appendix A in the draft AAP summarises the changes that have been made, and a consultation statement is also available explaining the Council’s response to the previous consultation comments.
An updated draft AAP and a number of evidence base documents have been produced as part of the AAP process. The draft AAP is available to download here. The evidence base documents are available to download from the Council's website.A hard copy of each document will be available to view at the reception of Tower Hamlets Town Hall, Mulberry Place, Clove Crescent, E14 2BG.
