Update December 2025
Consultation on Proposed Development at Smithy Street Site
On behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, I would like to invite you to participate in a community consultation process regarding the proposed development at Smithy Street, Stepney Green, London, E1.
We previously consulted on this site; however, the proposed scheme to include a four (4) storey block of flats consisting of 19 new homes for social rent. The new homes are targeted for residents on the Common Housing Register. We wish to consult with residents once again before submitting a planning application.
We will be hosting two drop-in sessions where you can speak to the project team and the architects directly regarding this development. More details on these sessions are provided below.
Consultation Event 1
Date: Wednesday 14th January 2025
Time: 4pm – 7pm
Location: TRA Room, Ground Floor, 2 Jarman House, Jubilee Street, London, E1 3BL
Consultation Event 2
Date: Saturday 17th January 2025
Time: 10am – 12.30 pm
Location: TRA Room, Ground Floor, 2 Jarman House, Jubilee Street, London, E1 3BL
At the consultation residents will be shown plans of the proposed development and will be able to discuss and comment on the proposed improvements to the surrounding area.
Following the conclusion of the drop-in sessions, the plans will be made available on the Council’s website for you to access. Please visit: Project: Smithy Street | London Borough of Tower Hamlets to view and comment on the designs by taking the online survey.
The consultation period for all resident replies has been extended to 2nd February 2026.
