Pharmacy Needs Assessment
A Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) is a formal report that helps local communities understand whether their pharmacy services meet people’s needs now and in the future.
Published every three years, it looks at where pharmacies are located, what services they provide—such as dispensing prescriptions or offering public health advice—and whether there are any gaps. By highlighting areas where additional support or new pharmacies may be needed, the PNA guides NHS decisions about commissioning services and considering new pharmacy applications, ensuring residents can access the right care close to home.
