The Mayer Parry Bridge is a proposed pedestrian and cycle bridge across the River Lea, forming part of the Lower Lea Bridges programme led by the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Newham. For more information on the programme, please visit: Lower Lea Bridges Programme Page The bridge is being developed in close collaboration with the developer of the Poplar Riverside scheme. This initiative aims to improve east-west connectivity between Tower Hamlets and Newham, addressing a significant gap in local infrastructure.
Project Status
The bridge is currently in the pre-planning stage. Tower Hamlets Council is working with stakeholders to ensure the design meets community needs and complements wider regeneration efforts in the Lower Lea Valley. A planning application is expected to be submitted in Early 2026. Construction of the project is expected to start towards the end of 2027 and to be open to the public in 2029.
