Bradwell Street Garages proposed Development
On behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, we would like to invite you to participate in a community consultation event regarding the proposed development at Bradwell Street Garages before submitting a planning application at a future date.
Why do we need to build?
The Council has more than 24,000 households on its housing register, with many residents in acute housing need. We have our own house building programme and together with partners we are committed to building 4,000 social homes for rent, with a focus on 3-to-4-bedroom family homes, in line with the Mayor’s strategic priorities. This project will be delivered by the Council and is one of several Council owned sites that have been identified for regeneration and infill development.
Have your say, and get involved!
We want the community to be involved in part of something that makes the local area better now and for the future. We will be hosting 2 drop-in community consultation sessions where you can talk to officer’s face to face regarding the proposed development.

Phases
Consultation Phase December 2025
On behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, we would like to invite you to participate in a community consultation event regarding the proposed development on Bradwell Street Garages before submitting a planning application at a future date.
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has appointed MAP Architecture to develop proposals for a new residential building providing seven family-sized homes for social rent, together with a new public garden and open play space for the community. The site, located at the junction of Moody Street and Bradwell Street, is currently vacant following the recent demolition of the former garages.
A new planning application is being prepared to replace a previously consented scheme for eight homes. The redesign has been undertaken for several key reasons:
• To provide a larger, fully wheelchair-accessible ground-floor home in accordance with borough requirements.
• To deliver larger family homes on the upper floors to better meet local housing needs.
• To improve the buildability and overall efficiency of the proposed scheme.
The revised project has been carefully designed as a high-quality, sustainable brick building that integrates with the existing streetscape while providing valuable new public open space, including a community garden and play area.
