Hackney Wick Pharmacy

From "Pharmacy Needs Assessment"

Go to the project

I can see many comments focusing on Fish Island, but Hackney Wick as a whole needs a pharmacy.

I want to ensure that a “me first” approach to the new community on Fish Island doesn’t overlook the needs of the longstanding community here in Hackney Wick, whose needs are just as important as those of Fish Island.

The residential population around the station is larger than Fish Island’s and continues to grow. Investment should benefit the entire existing community, not just newer developments.

Across Hackney Wick, we need better local services, including a post office, larger supermarkets rather than more ‘mini’ stores, a GP surgery, schools and entertainment. Sainsbury’s shelves, for example, are often empty.

The community has grown faster than the amenities and we now need a review.

Thanks!

Hackney Wick broadly isn’t in Tower Hamlets, Fish Island is in its entirety which is why there is a greater focus on it. But agree on what’s been said - just needs to go to Hackney.

@Josie Fathers Hi Josie, I live in Hackney Wick and the entire development I live in (600+ homes) falls under the borough of Tower Hamlets. As does the development they are building across the road (400+ homes). And the one behind that. All the station side of HW. All Tower Hamlets. I was also born and raised in Hackney so super clear on the broader issues and borough boundaries. Thanks!

@Renee Shillingford yes that’s why I said broadly! I don’t think the communities need to be pitted against each other, the needs are the same.
