Open up railway underpass between Meath Gardens and QMUL

QMUL, Friends of Meath Gardens and Tower Hamlets have been working on a plan to open up the railway underpass separating QMUL from Meath Gardens so the students can have easy, ready access to a large green space right next to them as well as Roman Road. It will bring life to the canal that we both share and will make access to Mile End park easier too. As Friends of Meath Gardens we would love to involve QMUL students much more in our volunteering activities in Meath Gardens so opening up the underpass makes sense on so many levels! Please include this in your masterplan.

Most interesting, comprehensive SPD. Welcome change to open up campus to the public. Small point – Queens' Building, not Queen's Building!

Will email my longer response today

More high buildings blocking light in residential homes and gardens

70% of sun light from the east will be lost for local residents in their homes and gardens. Solar power installation will no longer be financially viable in residential houses due to reduced light blocked by these buildings . Also making bio diversity in planting difficult in the university Will the buildings have hospitality events on the roofs areas at night as well as the daytime?? We already have problems with nighttime security lighting shining in our bedrooms this will no doubt increase with the new buildings.

Canal side more accessible to general public

I would like to see the canal side area being made more accessible to the general public and a bit more spruced up

    Increasing space by Regents Canal

Widening and greening more of the area between the halls of residence blocks and the canalside would be an ideal way to connect QMUL with the wider community. Currently, lots of local people sit beside the canal (on Mile End Park side) and face QMUL's residential blocks. It would be great for local residents to look across the canal and see a similar picture of a green space populated by people -- rather than many confrontational blocks of halls.
