Consultation has concluded
On Wednesday 30 November 2022 Tower Hamlets Council approved the publication of a statutory notice on the proposed amalgamation of The Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation Boys’ and Girls’ Schools.
Notice is thereby given, in accordance with The School Organisation (Establishment and Discontinuance of Schools) Regulations 2013, that Tower Hamlets Local Authority intends to discontinue Bishop Challoner RC Boys’ School by 31 August 2023. This notice includes the Local Authority’s proposal to make a prescribed alteration to Bishop Challoner Catholic Girls' School, by converting it to a boys' and girls' school and expanding its size from 5 form entry to 9 form entry. Bishop Challoner Catholic Girls’ School would be renamed as Bishop Challoner Catholic School from 1 September 2023, in accordance with The School Organisation (Prescribed Alternations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013. Pupils currently attending The Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation Boys’ and Girls’ schools will continue in the amalgamated School.
