What's happening around Arnold Road?

Have your say on proposals for the Arnold Road area, which aim to reduce traffic and encourage more cycling and walking.

Following consultation with residents in September 2019, a proposal has been developed to restrict all vehicular traffic movement between Arnold Road and Campbell Road except for cycles and to improve the local streets for the community’s use. This package of measures has been designed to also partly address the issues highlighted by residents in 2019.

We are contacting residents and businesses in the area marked below to provide feedback on the proposal.

In order to slow traffic down and make the area safer and more welcoming for pedestrians and cyclists, we are proposing the following measures shown below on the plan.

We want to hear your views on:

  • Closing Arnold Road at its junction with Campbell Road to all vehicles except for cycles, creating a ‘modal filter’
  • Making Arnold Road one-way south bound from its junction with Bow Road to its junction with Tomlin’s Grove
  • Making Tomlin’s Grove one-way north bound from its junction with Arnold Road to its junction with Bow Road
  • Making changes to parking on Arnold Road

Please make sure you share your views by filling out the survey here.

Coronavirus update

The council is working with its partners across Tower Hamlets to help tackle the spread of the virus and to make sure that residents, particularly those most vulnerable, are given all the support they need. Visit www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/coronavirus for information and advice.

While our frontline resources are focused on the response to the virus, work on other council programmes is continuing, with the majority of our staff working remotely. Social distancing measures will mean we have to change the way we engage with residents but we are working on new ways to do this remotely so that you can continue to shape the positive changes happening in your area.
