Consultation Update

We are encouraging residents and businesses to get involved in the next stage in our consultation on proposals to remove the camera closures on Brick Lane. Concultation packs (including the consultation document) will start to be delivered across the Brick Lane area from 26 Janaury 2023. We will be launching the Brick Lane public consultation on 30 January 2023. The deadline for responses will be 19 February 2023.

Below we set out the options which have been developed for respondents to consider.

Option 1: The full removal of the camera closures on Brick Lane.

Feedback from that first stage consultation, shows strong feedback from residents and businesses supporting the removal of the closures. Key themes were displaced traffic, increased journey times for those dependent on the use of a car and impact on businesses.

Option 2: Retaining the camera closures.

Feedback from the first stage of the consultation showed support for the benefits of the closures. The key benefit is the improvement to safety for pedestrians through the removal of traffic during closure times.

The deadline for responses will be 19 February 2023. Have your say by:

  1. Returning your paper copy via post in the freepost envelope provided to addresses within each scheme area.
  2. Online via the survey below. Residents and businesses who receive a paper copy of the survey should use the response reference code on the survey.

Using your response reference number

All paper surveys sent out to addresses within the consultation boundary have a response reference code for each address to be used for online responses if that is your chosen method of response. This code is for the household and can be used for responses from each member of the household.
